It's hard to believe that our desert
can support such an abundance of life,
From a soaring Hawk, to a tiny Beetle.
How they love and appreciate
the warmth of the sun,
the thorny desert plants,
and the sudden replenishing rains.
Our desert gives to all of us
and says: "take from me,
I am yours, but be warned,
If you abuse me, you may lose me!"

And then the all too wise Great Horned Owl replies:
"Please let it be known that the Desert Tortoise,
the Jackrabbits, the Gamble Quail, the Hummingbirds,
the Coyotes, the Bobcats, the Javelinas, the Rattlesnakes,
the Gecko Lizards, the Scorpions, the Tarantulas,
the Roadrunners, the Gila Woodpeckers, the Prairie Dogs,
the Kit Foxes, the Turkey Vultures, the Cactus Wrens,
the Bats, the Cottontails, the Mule Deer,
the Bighorn Sheep, the Pack Rats, the Butterflies,
the Bees, the Crickets, the Gila Monsters,
the Mourning Doves and the Mountain Lions,
are not the ones who are abusing our desert!"
